Welcome to the 4th annual iteration of The Living Canvas! Join us on opening night to celebrate the beauty, form, and emotion of the human body through exceptional figurative art. Step into a captivating gallery space where raw human expression meets contemporary visual storytelling, and stay to honor this year's exceptional artists during our evening awards ceremony. Light refreshments will be served.
Life drawing sessions with nude model are held Saturdays and on the first and third Monday of the month. Sessions are open to artists of all skill levels (18+). Poses vary in length from 5 to 30 minutes. Please note that no formal instruction is provided, and artists are responsible for bringing their own materials and supplies. Cash tips for the model are greatly appreciated. For questions, contact Mia or Joe W.
Join us for a live oil painting demonstration by this year's guest Juror, Yelena Lamm. Yelena brings a wealth of expertise to the canvas, having been awarded The Living Canvas Juror's Choice Award for its first three consecutive years. She is an accomplished master of the craft and a Signature Member of the Oil Painters of America (OPA), Society of Animal Artists (SAA), American Impressionist Society (AIS), National Oil & Acrylic Painters’ Society (NOAPS), and American Women Artists (AWA).
We invite local business owners, neighbors, and art lovers alike to the Millvale Mixer! Join us at The Maple Leaf for a casual evening of connection, community, and culture. This reception serves as a warm welcome to The Living Canvas, providing a relaxed opportunity to experience the exhibition and celebrate Millvale's vibrant creative community. Light refreshments will be available.
Presented by Sasha Phillips, this seminar offers a practical, vital overview of the legal issues portrait and figurative artists face most. From navigating copyright and fair use to understanding model releases, commission structures, and exhibition contracts, this session breaks down what the law protects, where common pitfalls occur, and how to proactively safeguard your work, your income, and your creative freedom.
Celebrate the final hours of the exhibition with an exclusive Artist Talk featuring the award-winning artists of The Living Canvas IV. Gain intimate insights into their creative processes, studio techniques, and conceptual inspirations. This engaging, conversational event offers a unique opportunity to connect directly with the artists and deepen your appreciation of the figurative works on display. Light refreshments will be served.
While most events are free to attend, we recommend RSVPing to help us with planning and setup. Please note that our Life Drawing sessions have a fee of $15, plus an optional tip for the model.
